I have been messing around with them and I like this new combination. For some reason it did not change my last post about the cookies, but that one's old and you've all read it so it's okay. I am hoping to maybe come back to blogland, but don't hold your breath!Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-19908273817737475922010-04-28T22:30:00.000-07:002010-04-28T23:07:49.852-07:00My cookies!
I am so proud! After an hour of trying I finally got a picture of my cookies! This is a major accomplishment for me, the computer illiterate. These cookies were the result of an accident, I was making German chocolate brownies and accidentally opened condensed instead of evaporated milk. For those of you unfamiliar with Leavenworth it is a mock Bavarian village right here in Washington. We started out the trip by me, my mom, and Kelly driving up to Puyallup to meet there with Lindsay and Miss Ann and drive together. Also, I got to squeeze in a piano lesson which I do whenever I can. Anyways, we got to Leavenworth and found our resort, which was really fun because it was more like an apartment! It had a master bedroom and bathroom, and a bedroom with two twin beds, a kitchen, living room (complete with murphy bed), and a deck. Lindsay and I took the master bedroom and let the adults sleep separate.

On Saturday morning Lindsay and I made Rhodes cinnamon rolls, they were the good kind that you have to let rise. We ate them both mornings because it made twelve. After that Lindsay and I took a walk around the resort which happens to be by a river. It was beautiful! We were surrounded by mountains and some were still snowy but the weather was nice and fairly spring-like. Then all of us left to go to the shops. We then shopped all day, because there is tons of fun shops. We went to lunch at a great Italian place called Visconti's they have amazing bread. (Lindsay knows this because I think she ate two loaves! :)) Lindsay and I bought matching freshwater pearl bracelets for $10 at the Pearl Haus. Miss Ann and my mom bought matching ones too, but they were different. We got dessert from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, where I got a delicious caramel apple. After that we went back to our apartment-thing, and played some Yahtzee. Then when it was time for dinner we searched around and then settled on a place called Gustav's. It was delicious! I had the Gustav burger which was like a regular sort of hamburger except for it had a giant piece of Canadian bacon on it and Swiss cheese. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had and it was only $6.50 with fries! When we went back to the lodge Lindsay and I talked and watched some What Not to Wear.

The next morning we packed up (which was easy because Lindsay and I had hung up all our clothes and put our stuff all neatly in the drawers which made it all a snap to get together.) and headed out. Oh! and we had to have a Bible study because it was Sunday. So, my mom lead us in exploring and telling some of our favorite characteristics of God. Mine was Lamentations 3:22-24, which tells of His compassion, mercy, and faithfulness. Then we were on the road. We made a stop at the Factory Outlets at North Bend, and did some more shopping. For lunch, we went to Los Cabos, were I tried arroz con pollo. It was super tasty, especially the mushrooms! Then we continued our trek back to Puyallup, where we then picked up Kelly from a friends house where she had been staying the weekend, then went back to Lindsay's where we picked up our car and headed back to Vancouver. It was a super fun weekend and we all had tons of fun!

Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-35820601676588180462009-05-09T22:14:00.000-07:002009-05-09T22:33:02.481-07:00Random Assortment of Stuff I LikeSince I like to copy what other people do rather than think of things by my self, I will do a favorite things list like my sisters. My 5 recently favorite things here it goes:

1. I love painted toenails. I do not like to paint my toenails because I feel like I am bad at it. Also, if the paint gets one scratch in it all of it has to come off. So usually I have painted toenails for about 3 days.

2. Cooking shows. My sister Kelly and I have just recently got hooked on the Food Network. We love Iron Chef America, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, and Ace of Cakes.

3. Dresses. I have quite a few dresses for spring/summer so I have been wearing dresses a lot. I like them more than a skirt because they already have a top so you don't have to find a matching one.

4. Two Hands. It is a song by Jars of Clay that they play on our radio quite a bit. I really want there new CD, The Long Fall Back to Earth.

5. Sunshine! I would love some 70 degree days. But alas, all we get around here is cloud coverage.

So that is my little list. If you haven't already join the fun and post your 5 (or 10 or whatever) favorite things.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-75472556162776602402009-04-19T20:49:00.000-07:002009-04-19T21:10:36.865-07:00My Crazy Spring!I haven't died my few blog followers, I just haven't really had the time or the want-to to actually post. But, I am so excited that the weather is actually acting like spring! On Saturday I wore shorts for the first time this year with flip-flops. Today I wore a dress with sandals to church and NO TIGHTS! Yes, I was very happy. I just love when the seasons change; although I get bored with them after about a month and wish they would change.

On a different note, I have already finished three of my school books and this week I should finish a fourth. I finished science in March, literature in early April, and history shortly after that. I am glad because then this gives me time to focus on Algebra and English. I need to work on those because soon I will be taking the Christian Liberty standardized test to place me in the CLASS program.

I am also working furiously to perfect my piano recital pieces. One of them is a really tricky classical piece (Fluttering Leaves in A Minor by Kolling) and I must practice it 30 times a day. The other one is an easier piece, it is a variation on Crown Him With Many Crowns. I am also working on a play for my co-op.

Well this was just a little catch up with my life for my few devoted fans. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with my blog a little better in the coming weeks.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-87430233040186143462009-02-23T21:23:00.000-08:002009-02-23T21:43:19.942-08:00A Day in the Life of a PageToday was my first day of paging at the Capitol. If you don't know what paging is, it is a program for 14-16 year olds and you spend 1 week at the Capitol. You are sponsored by a representative, mine is Dan Roach, and you pretty much do errands and scut jobs that no one else wants to do. Your day as a page is different everyday, today I started out in the John L. O'Brien building (JLOB) on the 4th floor. You sit by the receptionist until she tells you something to do. I delivered mail to the representative's offices and other things. That was from 8:00 to 9:00. Then at 9:00 I moved down to 3rd floor JLOB, and did the same thing until 10:00. Then at 10:00 I went on the House floor. I was the Rostrum page so I sat at the front near the Speaker of the House, in case he or one of the other people up there needs something. You have to set there perfectly still because all the reps. can see you. It is very boring luckily I only had to do it for about 20 minutes, because then the House went to there cacuses. So, I sat around and delivered a few notes to the Democratic (yuck!) cacus room. At 11:00 I went to the page room were I did a bunch of supply runs for people. The supply room is all the way on the other side of the campus and I had to go there 5 times in a row. Did I mention we have to use the stairs all the time and I think I walked up and down 90 sets of stairs today, at least? Then glourisly at 12:00 I got lunch, pretty uneventful. At 1:00 I went to Page school, which is taught by an extremly liberal former school teacher. I didn't really learn much for the 2 hours I spent sitting there. When I was done I went to 2nf floor JLOB and did the same thing as at 9:00 and 10:00. At 4:00 I went on the House floor again, this time I got to deliever things to the reps. on the floor. The floor is very confusing to try and figure out. At 5:00 we were free to go home and get out of our hideous clothes. (more on those later in the week) Well that is a day in the life of a page! More to come.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-41448460801824947282009-02-03T20:27:00.000-08:002009-02-03T20:38:32.340-08:00Owls and CupcakesI love Valentine's Day! Especially this year, because at Target their decorations etc. are full of cupcakes and owls, which are two of my very favorite things. When I went on the blog background site I saw this background with an owl on it! Sooo my year for Valentine's Day stuff! But, back to the reason I love Valentine's Day. It is a low stress holiday, not like Christmas or Easter, it is just candy and hearts. It is also an opportunity to eat chocolate, and I love chocolate especially assorted boxes with all sorts of tasty delicacies in them. Valentine's Day is a mostly pink holiday another one of my very favorite things. I have two very cute pillows that I got around Valentine's Day, one that I got last year and one that I got this year. The one I got last year was a giant cupcake complete with pink frosting a a big heart on top. The one I got this year is an owl with giant eyes who is also pink and has hearts that look like feathers. See why I love Valentine's Day? I think it was invented especially for me.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-79869179190698425732009-01-17T21:06:00.000-08:002009-01-17T21:19:06.098-08:00PeacoI got an Ugly Doll as a belated Christmas gift from my Aunt Dawn. I was very excited because whenever I go over to my Aunt's house I always see her girl's Ugly Dolls and think how adorable they are. It is really cute. It is pink and has three eyes and a black straight line for a mouth with a blue tongue. If you have never seen one you have to look one up. Its name is Peaco on the inside of the tag it says, "Peaco is very shy. Well... on the outside. On the inside, Peaco is a wild man! You can see it in his eyes. All three, Peaco really shines when he's doing what he does best. DANCING! Peaco loves to dance in the water... much to the dread of his cousin Cinko. Why dance in the water? Well, think about it! When you dance in the water, no one can see you! SHY! Remember? It's kind of a pain explaining water dancing to lifeguards though." Isn't that so cute? Thanks Aunt Dawn, Uncle Cory, and the girls! I love Peaco! Aunt Dawn I figured you would think this was better than a thank you note. : )Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-52057242998450616732009-01-06T15:48:00.000-08:002009-01-06T16:01:41.588-08:00My weekend with LindsayI had a great weekend with my friend Lindsay and her mom. I got to go over on Thursday and stay until Saturday because my family was going to the Tri-Cities and there wasn't enough room in the car for me. On Thursday night we went to the movies and saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The movie was depressing and made it seem like we all just go through life and live and then we just die. Depressing I know. Then when we went back to her house we watched Horton Hears a Who which was way happier than Benjamin Button. Then on Friday we cleaned up the Christmas decorations in the morning. That night we went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner. It was amazingly yummy! For dessert we had Coldstone's ice cream, I had Dark Chocolate Peppermint and Cake Batter. (Trust me it's delicious!) When we went back home we watched Phantom of the Opera, because we love to watch movies. On Saturday we went to the mall and window shopped due to lack of funds. All in all it was a very fun weekend!Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-30006877087531336672008-12-09T22:32:00.000-08:002008-12-09T22:52:38.446-08:00Practice makes Perfect! My friend Lindsay and I performed a piano duet yesterday night. We played, "Duet Fantasy of Carol of the Bells". It was for the ladies' Christmas Tea at our church. We had planned on performing later in the month and therefore, only started practicing it 3 weeks ago. That is not a very long time to practice a duet. We were kind of worried when we practiced last Wednesday and realized how horrid we were. Luckily, a very sweet lady who had done the same duet before helped us sort through it. Last night stomachs aflutter we performed and, alas we did fabulous! We were extremely proud of ourselves. Luckily, we did it for the Lord and I don't think He cares if we messed up a couple of times.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-54031450841562883452008-11-25T22:52:00.000-08:002008-11-25T23:10:21.005-08:00My Scattergories answersThese are my answers to my Aunt Dawn's Scattergories post:

What's your name... I have been doing it every year since I can remember. This year I packed one for a 10-14 year old girl, usually I pack one for a 2-4 year old girl. My sister Kelly and I decide to switch it up this year and trade age ranges because she usually packs one for a 10-14. I put things that I thought I would like in the box, such as, an adorable little stuffed zebra, a slinky, hair-clips and ponytail holders, striped notebook with matching pencils, and a cute short-sleeved shirt. I always try to color code my box. This year I did a pink box, my washcloth, hairbrush, shirt, Slinky, and fun polka dotted socks were all varying shades of pink.

Isn't it amazing to think that the simple act of packing a shoebox full of things can grant a child so much happines? Also, they get a chance to hear about Jesus. I definitly think it is worth a little time and money if the child comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-25844995692764841092008-10-26T22:06:00.000-07:002008-10-26T22:48:33.200-07:00Me Too!I decided that Kelly's communal tag would work for me. So, here are my six things:

1. I can never decided what I want to be when I grow up. When I was younger I wanted to be, a wedding planner, a florist, (I wanted to do this when I was about 7, then thought about the fact that flowers have bugs. Yuck!) a professional ballerina, in the Olympics, and a mommy. More recently I have wanted to be a ultra-sound technician until I got married, but found a better idea where I could still do something I am interested in and be a stay-at-home mom. That job is church pianist and a mom who homeschools here children. (I want at least 5 kids)

2. I like to cut out paper dolls. I do it at night and find it very soothing. Right know I am cutting out Civil War era paper dolls. The outfits are so lovely!

3. I collect stuffed owls. I also name them after famous composers such as, Beethoven, Liszt, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Handel.

4. I used to bite my nails. Finally, I just told myself that I wanted long nails so I made myself stop. Now though I have to cut them or else it is too hard to play piano.

5. I like to organize things (This is NOT cleaning it is more fun). I enjoy using my mom's P-Touch label maker and storing things in there correct bins and baskets.

6. I hardly ever wear socks. I can never find them, or my sisters have stolen them. So, my toes are always cold and they flock to anything warm such as heater vents or my sisters legs when they are sitting beside me on the couch.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this because it took me forever to write. My sister Katy said that is because I am an open book and love to talk. I tag Jude and Lindsay!Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-24428920112199744252008-10-19T21:56:00.000-07:002008-10-19T22:00:51.736-07:00BloggingI added a poll! Now a feel like a real bon-a-fide blogger. I also have been commenting on more blogs then I used to. My aunt told me that commenting is proper blog etiquette. This is a very short post, but I wanted to express my happiness that I am understanding this tech stuff.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-58791792312427768002008-10-14T21:10:00.000-07:002008-10-14T21:26:24.793-07:00Christmas Time is hereI love Christmas! It is my favorite time of year. Yes, I know it is only the middle of October but I am already eagerly anticipating the season of our Lord's birth. I love every aspect of Christmas, the shopping, the gift wrapping, the Nutcracker, decorating the tree, and especially the music. I started playing Christmas music on the piano in September. It brings me an inexpressable amount of joy and my family dismay. They all don't relish the sounds of, "Joy to the World" quite as much as I do. In fact they had a rule that you couldn't sing or play Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving. Tough luck for them! I can't wait until I get to start wrapping presents. I am not very good at it but, I like to do it probably because I get to listen to Christmas music. I am really excited for Christmas this year because my sister Clare and her 2 kids are going to be here! The more the merrier. Well, merry Christmas!Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-68885908762835261522008-10-08T21:21:00.000-07:002008-10-08T21:41:01.153-07:00A little about AwanaI really enjoy Awana. Especially L.I.T.ing (did I do that right?). That stands for leaders in training. I help out in the Sparkies group which is for kids in kindergarten through second grade. The kids are so cute! I helped out in a group that I hadn't helped out in before tonight, and there was this little boy who was a doll! He was such a mumbler and mixed parts of John 3:16 into every verse. He had a Tootsie Pop and was licking it very slowly and methodically. So, I asked if he was trying to count how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, and he starts counting 1,2,3, etc. He got all the way up to 25 then skipped to 1,000. He was adorable! I love spending time with the kids and I enjoy having the opportunity to teach little kids about the Bible. Is there truly any greater joy than seeing children learn about Jesus?Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-63427800533261604572008-10-05T20:15:00.000-07:002008-10-05T21:57:42.547-07:00FriendsI love my friends! I have lots of different types of friends. One of my best friends is my sister Katy. She is the highly intelligent and ambitious friend. Katy is a great person to talk to because she lives with me so we frequently have chats until 11:15 when my mom breaks up the party. She is a big help when you have to do things such as school projects. Once I had to do a creative writing assignment for one of my co-op classes and she practically wrote the thing for me because my brain was fried and it turned out hysterical. Katy is definitely one of my best friends.

My friend Lindsay is a different kind of friend. She loves to talk just like me and so we frequently talk on the phone for an hour or so. Tonight we talked for about 50 minutes and we just talked about all sorts of things from boyfriends (I don't have one but she does) to witnessing. I admire her because she is not afraid to share her faith. She tells me stories of how in school they have debates on things like pre-maritail sex and how she is one of the only ones who opposes it. Lindsay is a fabulous friend and I adore her.

My friend Jude is yet another kind of friend. She is now my e-mail buddy. Since we don't live in the same state and we both are very busy it is sometimes hard to catch up with each other. She is such a great friend because even when we haven't talked to each other in a long time we still can understand each other's feelings and share secrets with each other. We have been friends for a long time and yet can still connect and understand each other. She is a amazing friend and I couldn't go through life without a friend like her.

Friends are such a blessing and I love all mine! They are a so different yet each wonderful in there own unique way. I thank God for my friends!Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4682345560560190225.post-19885286255796586392008-09-29T22:30:00.000-07:002008-09-29T22:48:45.982-07:00A Sprinkling about MeIf you are wondering where the name for my blog came from it was from my ingenious sister Katy. It was inspired by my love of cupcakes. Let me tell you I love cupcakes my room is even decorated in cupcakes. My aunt gave me a cupcake trinket box for my birthday and my sister made me curtains out of you guessed it: cupcake fabric.

While I was typing this my mom said, "Would you please write a happy blog? Everyone else is dismal and your blog is named, "The Frosting of Life" so could you make it happy?" So that is the goal of my blog to put a smile on your face and maybe every once in a while to complain.

A little bit more about me: I love piano it is my passion and I have played for 4 years. I am number 5 in a family of 8. I like to read and my favorite school subject is history. I like to cook and I help my mom in the kitchen almost every night. When I grow up I would like to be a church pianist and have at least 5 kids. So that is a little about me. I hope you smiled because of it.Lisa Dawnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09060339499418034200noreply@blogger.com10
